Consumer Products

I am passionate about creating innovative products and gaining a thorough understanding of customer needs to drive meaningful solutions.

The lastest product I've had the pleasure of bringing to market is the Orba 3 (featured here). This portable, multi-instrument MIDI controller empowers users to craft music and sample sounds from their environment, offering a unique, hands-on creative experience.

Below is a selection of a few other exciting projects I've helped bring to life.

This smart, WiFi enabled sprinkler controller was a design evolution of a prior offering.

A key highlight of this design was the lighting effect, which was crucial to the product's appeal. Rapid prototyping was essential in fine-tuning every detail and ensuring the effect was just right.

Medical Devices

It has been incredibly rewarding to contribute to the development of life-saving medical devices. Through extensive usability studies and product validation labs, I've gained invaluable insights into both user needs and product performance.

I had the privilege of collaborating directly with doctors, nurses, surgeons, as well as receiving firsthand feedback from patients, all of which have been instrumental in shaping the design and functionality of these products.

This transport incubator is engineered to meet global standards for use in helicopters and ambulances, ensuring reliability in extreme environments.

In addition to designing several key components of this unit, I was actively involved in product verification testing, including IPx, shock, and vibration testing.

I worked directly with surgeons to develop custom specialty instrumentation tailored to their specific needs.

I have successfully launched dozens of instruments for class II and class III medical devices, ensuring all design and regulatory requirements were met. I was also responsible for maintaining comprehensive Design History File documentation for FDA compliance.

Green Power

Being part of a renewable energy company that developed power buoys to harness energy from ocean waves was very rewarding. I was responsible for designing the massive steel weldments that made this technology possible.

The buoy shown here (top image) is being deployed off the coast of Hawaii. One of the biggest challenges in designing these 45,000 pound structures was ensuring they could withstand the harsh ocean environment. To address this, I focused heavily on FEA analysis and precise force calculations to optimize performance.

I also had the privilege of working with a company specializing in wireless charging for electric vehicles, including taxies and commuter buses. This (bottom image) shows one of our installations of these innovative charging pads, which are helping to drive future sustainable transportation.
